Critics criticise their lyrical
abilities (Chris Martin sure ain’t the “lyrical gangsta”!), but that’s
what critics do… it’s their job. Sure their lyrics ain’t that hot, but
lyrics aren’t what Coldplay are about. Coldplay just write great, floaty,
dreamy music.
Coldplay are a bunch of ex-students from University College London (UCL),
an establishment to which I nearly went. After graduating, they decided not
to get a proper job, and to go into the music business instead. It
payed off.
After releasing several critically-acclaimed limited edition EPs, they
recorded an album, Parachutes.
The singles Shiver, Yellow
and Trouble all sold well in the UK and…"
