i think we need more: imgwithalt/ videowithsound/ soundwithvideo/ embedvideowithsound/ soundembedwithvideo/ blinkvideowithsound/ blinkembedvideoobjectwithsoundandalt/ etc.
I wrote one post to WG about standarizing syntax (and only syntax) between html and xhtml (you know img with slash or attribute value in quotes) but i think those guys are living in their own world. They are ready to support 50 not-used-and-not-needed-elemnts just because there is a ns4 browser.

All major browsers support object element and noone is using embed anymore .

This is a very interesting concept which seems like it would be a very viable solution. Unfortunately, I’m not sure how well this would work in practice, and if all browser manufacturers would actually follow the spirit of an extended spec.

I’m surprised more people haven’t commented here.
